I picked up a cheap deck while traveling because I’d forgotten to pack one.
The font was terrible. The “J” in the corner looked so much like a stylized number that I had to look twice every time it came up. After a few hands someone actually asked, “Wait… what card is that supposed to be?”
It sounds ridiculous until you’re holding the deck yourself.
That tiny moment somehow turned into a discussion about face card value blackjack. One person at the table thought every picture card had its own value, another was convinced the jack was worth 11 because of the letter.
Amazing how one badly designed deck can expose things people have believed for years.
LOL, I’ve actually seen this happen. My uncle has one of those souvenir decks with awful typography, and the jack really does look weird. We spent five minutes arguing before someone grabbed another deck to compare. 
The scary part? Two people at the table have been playing blackjack for YEARS.
Nah, the deck isn’t the real problem.
People don’t actually remember the blackjack card values as well as they think they do. Ask ten casual players what the jack, queen and king are worth and somebody will confidently get it wrong.
Everyone says blackjack is easy until the basics come up.
BRO… DON’T get me started. 
I dealt at charity nights for a while, and the number of people arguing about face card value in blackjack was honestly ridiculous.
One guy refused to hit because he insisted a jack had its own value. He wasn’t trolling either.
Since then I never assume anyone knows the rules just because they sound confident.
