Last weekend I play blackjack in small casino outside Philly. Guy next to me maybe 60, cowboy hat, very serious face. Dealer show Ace and ask insurance. I say no. Cowboy guy look at my chips, put $20 near me and say, “Take it. I got a feeling.” I thought he joking. He was NOT joking.
Dealer say he cannot place insurance on my hand, so this man give me money to do it myself. Dealer check hole card — blackjack. Insurance win. Cowboy take back his money and profit, then slide me five dollar like I work for him 
Next hand dealer show Ace again. He point at me: “Do it again.” I ask, “You got feeling again?” He say, “Same shoe.”
This time dealer had no blackjack. Money gone. Cowboy become angry at ME. Bro, this was your ghost prediction, not mine. When I got home I even searched the blackjack insurance rules, because everybody at that table was saying different thing. From what I understand, insurance pay only when dealer really has blackjack. So why this guy act like same shoe means same result? One player said insurance is always bad. Another said smart players use it sometimes. Dealer just smile and say nothing.
So who was actually right there? Is insurance ever normal bet, or just casino bait for people who “got a feeling”?
