Blackjack Switch by Red Rake Gaming reviewed by me – Fun Trick, but Don’t Get Cocky

I played Blackjack Switch from Red Rake Gaming and yeah, I get why people talk about it. It’s blackjack, but with that little card-swapping twist that makes your brain go “oh nice, I’m smart now.” Careful with that. The game gives you more control than normal blackjack, but it also gives you more chances to mess up with confidence. Been there.

I checked the game info on the official Red Rake Gaming site before playing, because I hate when reviews pretend every blackjack table has the same rules. This one uses 6 decks, you play 2 hands, and you can switch the second card between both hands. That’s the whole hook. If you want to know how blackjack switch works, that’s the main thing: you try to turn two average hands into one strong hand and one less-awful hand. Sounds easy, but it isn’t always.

Feature My take after playing
RTP Listed at 99.92%, which is very high if you don’t play like a clown
Decks 6 decks, so don’t start acting like you’re counting everything
Hands Always 2 hands, so bankroll drops faster
Switch option Cool feature, but it can bait bad decisions
Blackjack payout 1:1, not 3:2, which matters a lot
Supermatch side bet Fun for a few rounds, but I wouldn’t rely on it

I started with small bets, around €0.50 per hand, because two hands means every round already costs double. The bet range goes from €0.20 to €50, so there’s room for casual players and bigger bettors. I stayed low because I wanted to test strategy, not cosplay as a VIP genius.

My basic plan was:

  • build at least one strong hand before worrying about making both hands pretty
  • switch when it turned a weak total into 19, 20, or blackjack
  • avoid the Supermatch side bet most rounds
  • don’t double just because the switched hand looked “interesting”
  • stop after three messy rounds in a row

The switching feature is honestly fun. I had one round where I turned a 13 and 16 into a 20 and 9. That felt great. Then five minutes later I switched badly and turned two playable hands into one decent hand and one trash hand. Classic me

My biggest mistake was trying too hard to “fix” both hands. That’s not always possible. Sometimes one hand is going to be ugly, and forcing the switch only makes it worse. Another mistake: I played the Supermatch side bet too much in the first few rounds. It can pay when you get pairs or matching cards, but it’s still a side bet. Casinos don’t add those because they love your wallet.

My blackjack switch strategy tips after playing:

  • don’t switch automatically just because the button exists
  • compare both final hands, not only the best one
  • respect the 1:1 blackjack payout
  • keep stakes lower than normal blackjack
  • treat side bets like snacks, not dinner

What I liked most was the speed and the clean layout. Red Rake didn’t make it ugly or overstuffed. You can play blackjack switch online without feeling lost, and the controls are simple enough even when you’re checking both hands fast.

What I wish was better? I’d like clearer strategy prompts or a small rule reminder on-screen. Also, the 1:1 blackjack payout still annoys me, even if I understand it balances the switch feature. No surrender is another thing I missed when hands got nasty.

Main takeaway: Blackjack Switch is good if you actually think before clicking. The RTP looks strong, the switching mechanic is clever, and the game feels smooth. But if you play lazy, this thing will punish you while making you feel like it was your brilliant idea.
